Three versions of three-phase commercial inverters are available from SolarEdge. The SE9kUS and SE14.4kUS inverters can attach to 208 VAC 3-P WYE or Delta grids, while the SE33.3kUS inverter can connect to 480 VAC 3-P WYE grids. SolarEdge inverters are designed to operate exclusively with SolarEdge power optimizers and can be used with either single-module or dual-module optimizers. The power optimizers handle MPPT and voltage control, resulting in a very high-efficiency, low-cost inverter.
The fixed input voltage of the SE9kUS and SE14.4kUS inverters is 400 VDC, while the SE10kUS, SE20kUS, and SE33.3kUS inverters have an input voltage of 850 VDC. Longer module string lengths are possible thanks to the optimizers' fixed input voltage, resulting in lower wireline losses and fewer device components. These lightweight wall-mountable inverters have built-in module-level monitoring. They have a code-compliant DC disconnect, an Ethernet socket, and an RS-485 serial port built-in. Both SolarEdge inverters are UL 1741 and UL 1699B specified for use in the USA and Canada, and they are NEMA 3R rated. The inverters are rated for temperatures ranging from -4 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. The SE14.4kUS and SE33.3kUS inverters both have three fused DC+ and DC- inputs, which eliminates the need for a fused combiner box from a third party.
To ensure installer and firefighter protection, the optimizers automatically shut down the DC current and voltage when they sense excessive heat or when the SolarEdge inverter is switched off or disconnected from the grid. A SolarEdge commercial system's high fixed voltage allows for longer DC strings, reducing installation, attachment, and wiring costs compared to traditional commercial string inverter systems.
Connecting the inverter directly to an Internet router or switch, or using the wireless SolarEdge Zigbee Gateway Kit and Slave Modules enables monitoring via the SolarEdge monitoring portal. Commercial devices may also be outfitted with SolarEdge Environmental Sensors (irradiance, module, and ambient temperature, and wind), as well as the Firefighter Gateway, to enhance protection in the event of an emergency.
